We're delighted to have Nicolas Julia join us at NFT Paris 2023!
The co-founder and CEO of Sorare, Nicolas Julia, will be speaking with us live at the NFT Paris Conference.
Here's our content in-brief:
- What Is Sorare: Breaking down the digital sports trading card platform
- Sorare In The World Cup: How Sorare engaged football fans around the world this World Cup 2022
- Sorare x NFT Paris: Our Partnership and more about Nicolas Julia
Let's get right into the piece!
As a child, some of us may have experienced the thrill of trading sports cards with friends. Sorare is bringing our childhood pastime to web3, digitizing the game.
Initially, Sorare started off as a platform for fantasy football (soccer), giving fans a "skin in the game" through digital trading cards. With fans being able to collect digital cards of their favorite players, they could create fantasy teams, earn points, and get rewarded depending on their team's performance.
From fantasy football on the blockchain in 2018, Sorare has come a long way. They have made several upgrades over the year, including:
- Obtaining official licensing from the biggest clubs in mainstream Sports
- Expanding the trading game outside of football, to the NBA and MLB
- Partnering with the biggest names in the Sports industry, with brands like Accel Partners, and football stars like Kylian Mbappé
Combining sports and card trading really enhances the sports experience for fans - allowing them to root for their team, and be rewarded for doing so. Furthermore, it introduces more people to blockchain tech, NFTs, and crypto, being the medium of transacting when trading digitally. A win-win for both the sports and the crypto community if I say so myself!
The World Cup just ended with a bang, with Argentina taking home the world cup.
Meanwhile, fans could have a stake in the team they support via Sorare's own competition - Global Cup 2022.
Basically, users could make their fantasy football team within a set budget, and depending on how the player (and their country) performed in the World Cup IRL, the appropriate scores would be reflected on their cards.
But what fun is a competition without enticing rewards? Sorare certainly did not disappoint. Aside from winning special edition cards and rewards in ETH, users could also obtain signed jerseys, and even VIP tickets to a football game of their choice.
Perhaps the best prize would be a trip down to Marseille, and a game of five-a-side football with legendary football player and coach Zinedine Zidane. Imagine meeting one of the greatest football icons by winning a sports trading competition - now that's game on!
Sorare has certainly made this World Cup a memorable experience, well, at least for those who took part in the Sorare Global Cup.
We're excited to have Nicolas Julia, the co-founder and CEO of Sorare, coming down to NFT Paris 2023 and speaking with us.
